While processed foods offer great convenience, our pets’ digestive tracts are still designed for fresh food. A raw diet is the ancestral diet for your dog and cat.  Dogs and cat’s digestive physiology have changed little from their wild counterparts. Our pet’s bodies still need the nutrition they get from eating a raw diet rather then a heat-processed diet.  Heat destroys most anti-oxidants, healthy oils, phytonutrients, enzymes and living beneficial micro-organisms.  This can result in your pet not getting enough digestive enzymes in their diet which makes their pancreas work harder at producing them.  This puts an extra burden on your pet and can result in creating chronic illnesses.  Feeding a bio-available, raw diet can help your pet get the nutrients they need without depleting their digestive enzymes and giving their bodies the ability to thrive rather then just survive.

Our Raw Food and Dehydrated Raw Selection

All our raw meat products are human grade, hormone and antibiotic-free, and USDA inspected. We carry a variety of raw parts, such as turkey necks, chicken necks and backs, and recreational bones.

We also carry a wide selection of prepared raw diets as well as muscle meat and organ grinds and raw premixes:

Primal
Primal offers several varieties (beef, lamb, chicken, duck, venison, pheasant, turkey/sardine, ) made with the highest quality ingredients, including organic veggies, animal-based essential fatty acids, and other natural supplements, providing a complete whole food source  and nutrient dense diet that your dog will love. They also make a cat-specific diet with 5-10% veggies, with salmon added to some varieties to attract the finicky felines.

Rad Cat
Rad Cat is a diet created exclusively for cats.  It’s a simple diet for the obligate carnivore featuring no grains or vegetables.  The meats are all USDA approved and USA sourced and either free-range or pasture-fed.  A combination of muscle meat and organ meat plus the addition of bone meal which can be more palatable for some cats rather then ground bone. Available in three formulas, free-range chicken, free range turkey and pasture raised lamb.

Vital Essentials
Vital Essentials has been creating raw diets for dogs and cats since 1968. This Wisconsin-based company makes a very high quality raw diet and it’s one of a only few pet facilities that are USDA compliant.  Following the prey-model diet based on high grade USDA meats, organ meat plus ground meaty bones plus herring oil for omega 3′s EFA’s and a natural source of Vitamin D.  The meats come from open-grazing, free-ranging hormone and anti-biotic free cattle (retired dairy cows) and poultry and have passed both pet and human consumption by the federally inspected USDA facilities. There’s a fish formula too (sourced from Lake Superior!). Plus their cattle facilities and handling protocol were designed by Temple Grandin, who we greatly admire! (here’s herAutism link too!). Plus they use no added vitamins/mineral supplements and there are no added fruits/vegetables or grains in the diet.   In frozen & free-dried nibbles, mini patties, patties and treats. Plus their diets are a great raw value!

Urban Wolf
Developed by a top canine “fresh food” nutrition specialist, Urban Wolf was originally developed for exotic, wild and endangered canine species on private zoos and sanctuaries. Formulated from whole food sources and for ease of preparation, the products contain no artificial vitamins, minerals, sweeteners or preservatives.  The formulas are blended in Canada in small monitored batches.  This is the perfect diet for people that like the economy of a home prepared diet with the assurance of creating a nutritionally balanced diet for their dog or cat.  The grain-free recipes can be used with either raw or cooked meat and served fresh or baked. Ideal for all breeds of dogs and puppies including large and giant breeds.

Nature’s Variety
This is a complete diet, the Prey Model Diet (95% meat/bone/organ, 5% vegetables), with a wide range of organic vegetables and some organic meat (not 100% due to availability). The high meat content makes this a great food for cats.

Stella and Chewy’s
Stella and Chewy’s specializes in single-source frozen and freeze-dried dinners for dogs and cats.  The diets follow the comprehensive Prey Model Diet (95% meat/bone with 5% organic fruits and vegetables).  The frozen and freeze-dried diets are identical so they’re great for those who feed raw and travel.  All meats are regionally-sourced in the mid west. They use a process that is Certified Pathogen Safe tested by an independent laboratory and results are posted on their website. Extremely palatable dinners and treats – excellent for small dogs and cats. A new grain-free freeze-dried cat diet is available too.

Bravo!
Bravo offers the most cost-effective options for feeding a raw diet to your pet.  The Original Blends contain a complete diet: meat, bone, organ meat, vegetables.  The Basic Formula contain just meat and bone or meat and bone with organ meat.  Pure Boneless Meat products contain just pure meat without any other ingredients while their Specialty products offer other mix options.  Made in the same USDA inspected facility that processes meat for restaurant use.  There is a convenient Bravo! size and product to meet every need – from small dogs and cats to giant breeds and multiple dog households.

Answers Pet Food
Answers Pet Food offers 100% complete grain-free formulas with no heat processing or synthetic vitamins. 90% fresh frozen meat: chicken, beef or pork plus 10% vegetables, eggs and healthy oils.  They also add in montmorillonite clay and fermented, decaffinated green tea (Kombucha). These ingredients have shown to have therapeutic success.  They also have raw goats milk which can be added to any diet including kibble, raw or canned.  The raw goats milk enhances your pet’s diet and also includes cinnamon, honey and other cultures. Green Tripe
Tripe is the stomach of ruminating animals. Green tripe is raw, ground and comes in frozen chubs.  It contains the appropriate levels of protein and fat for your dog plus digestive enzymes and gastric juices which can help your dog digest their food more efficiently.   It also contains essential fatty acids among the pre-digested plant matter.  Warning – your dog will love it but don’t be shocked on how it looks and smells!  Plus it’s chewy texture is great for their teeth too!

The Honest Kitchen
The Honest Kitchen creates dehydrated diets with minimal processing and is produced in a human food facility.  They offer 100% gluten-free, grain-free options and a variety of protein options (turkey, beef, chicken) and a dehydrated formula specifically for our feline friends.

SOJOs
A high quality pre-mixed base which the customer can either add their own fresh raw meat to or they also offer a Complete formula which includes freeze-dried raw meats in the formula.  It’s an easy way to begin feeding raw and the Complete formula is great for travel too!  It’s fresh homemade dog food in a snap!

Ziwi Peak
A healthy grain free gently air-dried diet consisting of a balance of meat ingredients (50-65%) your dog or cat would eat in the wild. Venison and Lamb formulas available with the addition of blue and green-lipped mussels for natural joint support.  Excellent to feed alone or as a tasty and nutritious food topper.

We also carry select products from RAWsome!  Pet Foods including human-grade Artic Cod which is terrific in a mix like Sojo’s or even as a frozen treat plus an assortment of raw recreational bones.
