Does your dog have C.L.A.S.S.? They will after they go through our new positive training program in our Edwardsville location!Â
C.L.A.S.S. (Canine Life and Social Skills) is an educational program designed to promote training focused on the use of positive reinforcement and to strengthen the relationships between humans and their canine companions. The mission of C.L.A.S.S. is to promote positive relationships through positive training methods. This approach both develops and safeguards harmonious relationships by maintaining trust with our dogs.
The program is created for training success with your dog. The program uses reward-based methods to help your dog learn and it helps your dog feel more secure with the proper rules and boundaries set up. Another significant portion of the program focuses on dog behavior helping both the dog and the human better communicate together. Dogs are not just furry little people but actually they actually see the world very differently from us. We need to learn how to communicate more effectively and set our dogs up for success!
We’re beginning with the Beginners Bachelor’s (BA) program and we’ll then be offering the Master’s (MA) and Doctorate (Ph.D.) programs later in the Spring. The key to the C.L.A.S.S. program is building basic life skills with your dog such as wait at the door, come and leash up manners, loose leash walking and attention, meet & greet, leave it, wait for the food bowl, stay and settle. We’ll work on getting each skill increased in distance, duration and distractions throughout the program.
Gail Czarnecki-Maulden, PhD, KPA CTP, a certified Karen Pryor Academy Trainer and Jeff Jensen, owner of Four Muddy Paws will be teaching. Jeff is currently a head dog trainer with the Greater St Louis Training Club.
