What is a Fall Fun Hunt?!
This event is all about playing two games with your dog that your dog already knows how to play. These games challenge dogs mentally and are a great workout. These games will help you learn to read your dog so in the future you can play advanced and more challenging detection and scent games in the future!
The Barn Hunt Instinct and Tunnel Test will allow your dog to safely search for and find a rat by going through a tunnel made out of straw. They will not be able to harm the rat!
The Scent Search will be a series of 5 hides. Each hide will vary in difficulty level. There will be indoor and outdoor hides. The first four hides will be food paired with an odor and the fifth hide will be odor only. As the handler, you will walk your dog through the 5 search areas and give your dog treats when they find the hidden target. There will be a small visual marker to let you know you’ve found it.
If you and your dog find all five hides and find the rat you will get a beautiful ribbon!
When: October 12th, 2013
What time: You will be given your own slot time by email when registration closes. That means no waiting around all day for your dog to have his/her turn! (And it’s great way for dogs who get nervous in crowds to participate!)

Please bring small chewy treats for your dog ! If you forget– there is a huge variety of options for sale in the store.
Who can play? Children and Adults who want to have fun with their dog, who can manage their dog safely on a leash and who can follow safety rules!
Both of these games require some very real world skills. Dogs who do detection and scent work as well as dogs who work to keep barns clean of rat infestations play these games everyday!
These games are also the foundation skills for two dog competition dog sports– Nose Work and Barn Hunt.
