Our shops will be CLOSED today – Monday, January 6 – due to the winter storm and cold temperatures we’re experiencing today. We hope you understand this inconvenience but we do not want out staff to be traveling in this winter weather.
Matt and Jeff will be at the Lafayette Square shop during the day for food emergencies but please call before you come over to make sure we’re still there. (314) 773 – 7297
We do anticipate being open again on Tuesday, January 7.
We hope everyone stays warm and safe on this very wintery day!
With some areas of the area projected to reach an unbelievable -34 degree windchill today (Monday) , it’s incredibly important to keep your animals safe and warm!
Here are some tips shared this weekend from the Missouri Humane Society.
–Cats need to stay indoors; no exceptions.
–Dogs should ONLY be let outdoors long enough to relieve themselves. If they don’t go after a couple minutes, take them back inside, warm up their paws with your hands or a towel, then try again.
–Doggie coats and booties aren’t just a fashion statement, they can be hugely important in keeping your animal warm; fur can only insulate so much and paw pads (along with ears and tails) are easily susceptible to frostbite.
–If you feel guilty about your pet missing out on their usual exercise regimen, there are plenty of ways for them to stay active indoors. puzzle toys, treat-dispensing toys, or tricks-for-treats are great ways to keep your animal busy (and warm) on bitter cold days.
